Frog Chorus Walk

Ghost River State Natural Area - Mineral Slough Boardwalk map
Description:
Please join us on our annual frog chorus walk along the boardwalk at Mineral Slough in the Ghost River State Natural Area.
We will meet at 8:00pm at the Ghost River State Natural Area (Mineral Slough) trailhead (MAP). (Take Hwy 57 east from Collierville to LaGrange, TN, in Fayette Co. Turn right at the flashing yellow light, go down the hill, make a right onto Beasley Rd., then look for a gravel parking area on the left after 1.5 to 2 miles). We'll take a short walk down the trail to the boardwalk where we will look and listen for calling frogs and try to identify them. We will also look for the distinctive flash pattern of the recently identified Cypress Firefly. Our Frog Chorus Walk is a unique experience. There is something magical about being in a southern swamp at night in the late spring, immersed in the sights and sounds of the natural world.
We recommend long pants and sleeves, insect repellent, and a flashlight.
