Description:
Full Moon Bonfire on the banks of the Wolf River north of Rossville, TN (Map Link)
Sunday, April 29, 2018 | 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
This event is free and open to the public. Reservations are requested.
Come celebrate the full Pink Moon with the Wolf River Conservancy on the banks of our river just north of Rossville, TN. The moon’s name is associated with the appearance of moss pink (wild ground phlox) at this time. It is also known as the egg, fish, and sprouting grass moon.
At 7:00 pm, we will gather around the bonfire at the boat ramp on Highway 194 and about one quarter mile north of Rossville, Tn. The ramp is located on the right immediately after you cross the Wolf River. The moon is scheduled to rise in the east at 7:29 pm so should put on a spectacular display the entire evening. The event will start to wind down around 9:00 pm. Some of us will also walk the Lucius Burch boardwalk just north of the parking lot as well. A small flashlight will assist you in this walk if you choose to participate, but the boardwalk is best experienced using only the light of the full moon.
There is no rain date for this event. This is an outside event so be sure and dress accordingly. Remember if you love to stand close to the fire, you may want to wear old clothing because sparks often get airborne out of the fire. Also bring chairs and your choice of beverage. If you bring snacks to share, they will be consumed.
