Greenway East

The East Section of the Wolf River Greenway comprises of 3.6 miles of paved trail that is currently open to the public. This section offers an intimate natural experience winding near the flowing Wolf River. The East Section connects to the Germantown Greenway at the border near Kirby Parkway, and runs westward past Walnut Grove Road, terminating at a grassy field of high-tension power lines. A connection from the termination point will cross the Wolf River and head north, to connect to the Shelby Farms Greenline through the beautiful Lucius Burch State Natural Area. This much expected expansion and connection is currently under construction, pending weather and flooding. A map of this connection can be seen below. The East Section additionally connects to Shelby Farms Park, on a picturesque bridge near the Humphrey's trail parking area. A level-one arboretum is located here, and more information about the arboretum is located at /greenway-arboretum.

The Wolf River Greenway East Section has six access points, with two of these points accommodating parking of vehicles. One of these parking areas, (indicated by a large green "P" in the map above) is located along Humphrey's Boulevard, at 6324 Humphreys Blvd,(TEMPORARILY CLOSED) Memphis, TN 38120. The second area is located west of Walnut Grove Road, where street parking is available past Fire Station No. 44.

Future Connections

The East Section ends in a small loop turnaround at the field of high-tension power lines. This can be seen in the middle of the map shown above as a large gap in the trees running north and south. This section will connect the East Section of the Wolf River Greenway with the Shelby Farms Greenline and will create 20 miles of paved trails between the Shelby Farms Greenline, Wolf River Greenway, and City of Germantown Greenway. Completion of this new connection is dependent of weather, flooding and has a tentative completion date of late 2021. This completion schedule is subject to change.
