International Paper Employees Celebrate Commitment to Wolf River Greenway Trail

International Paper employees and their families enjoyed a great morning at the Wolf River Greenway's Confluence Park in Harbor Town on Saturday, September 29th,in commemoration of IP's gift toward the completion of the Wolf River Greenway trail project.

In an opening ceremony, the Wolf River Conservancy recognized International Paper for its commitment to the project and to our overall mission to protect and enhance the Wolf River and its watershed.  Congressman Steve Cohen and former Mayor AC Wharton provided remarks. James McDonald, International Paper employee and Wolf River Conservancy board member, recognized Betty Gallagher, IP employee and long-time volunteer and river guide, for her service and dedication to the Wolf River Conservancy

At the celebration, families enjoyed snacks, yoga on the lawn, Explore Bike Share complimentary rentals, visits with partners from Clean Memphis, CAESER's Water on Wheels, and Green Leaf Learning Farm, and behind the scenes tours of the Wolf River Greenway.

Over the past three years, International Paper has supported the Wolf River Conservancy with a $600,000 campaign gift to the Wolf River Greenway project. In addition to the Greenway, International Paper employees have volunteered hundreds of hours through the Conservancy's annual tree planting, multiple day of service activities, paddling programs for youth, and other projects. International Paper has also provided financial support to many of the Conservancy's projects, including presenting sponsorship of this year's Greenway Soirée.

We appreciate the commitment and support from International Paper, and thank you for enjoying a day with us out on the Wolf River Greenway!
