Kennedy Park Greenway Grand Opening Celebrated with Service

The Wolf River Greenway at Kennedy Park officially opened on the morning of Wed., Oct. 3rd, with a Greenway Grand Opening ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a service project. Over 150 people attended the ceremony.  Doug McGowen with the City of Memphis and Conservancy Executive Director Keith Cole made the opening remarks, and  Lauren Taylor with Hyde Family Foundations and Rhonda Logan with the Raleigh Community Development Council participated in the ribbon cutting, cheering on the Kingsbury High student who actually cut the ribbon. Following the ceremony, 50 students from Kingsbury worked with volunteers from FedEx and Buckman to clear privet, install two bat houses, and build and install bird nest boxes. It was a beautiful morning.  THANK YOU to everyone from FedEx, Buckman, Kingsbury High School, the City of Memphis, and the community at large for making the celebration a great success!
