About Us Events & Activities Conservation Education Greenway Get Involved

Dear Wolf River Conservancy Partner:

Despite temperatures as low as 41 degrees - 20 degrees below average - and even a little snow, over 350 enthusiastic volunteers arrived at 9am to help us plant 10,000 native trees during our 10th Annual Tree Planting Event at Shelby Farms Park on Mar. 28th. Volunteerism is alive and well in Memphis and Shelby County!
The Wolf River Conservancy welcomed the Memphis Grizzlies as a very special partner this year. Once a year, the National Basketball Association acknowledges conservation organizations and activities across the country during NBA Green Week. We are pleased that the Grizzlies selected the Wolf River Conservancy and our tree planting as their local project. Go Grizzlies!
Of course, we appreciate the financial support from our generous sponsors:

   - Our Presenting Sponsor for our event was International Paper along with Supertree Seedlings.
   - A new contributor to the Conservancy is Brother International. Located in Memphis since the mid-1980’s, Brother International is committed to highly sustainable practices in their manufacturing processes. We can all benefit by following Brother’s 5 R’s in our daily lives.
    - Additionally, we appreciate the financial support from the Memphis Garden Club, The Little Garden Club and the Darden Foundation.
    - Lastly, we want to acknowledge the great volunteer support from the West Tennessee Chapter of the Urban Forestry Council.

The 10,000 trees planted contribute to Shelby Farms Park Conservancy’s “Million Tree” initiative. These trees will provide numerous environmental benefits for many years, helping us preserve the “Wonder of the Wolf.”
Learn more about upcoming activities on our website, and thank you for your support!
