May 2021: A Message from Our Director

Dear Wolf River Conservancy friend,

The Memorial Day holiday traditionally marks the beginning of summer, but the Wolf River Conservancy did not want to wait. We launched our Discover the Greenway event on May 22!

Discover the Greenway continues through June 5, so there is still plenty of time to participate and compete for some great prizes. This event is designed to give individuals, families, and small groups opportunities to explore and enjoy the Wolf River Greenway while supporting the Conservancy’s mission. For more details and registration, visit our Discover the Greenway site at this link.

We want to thank our Presenting Sponsor Jim Keras Subaru, along with additional sponsors Buckman, USI – Insurance Services, Great American Home Store, Carlisle Corporation, Butler Snow and Ring Container Technologies. Thank you to all our corporate sponsors.

As Discover the Greenway wraps up on June 5th, we launch the first of the new Greenway activities taking place on Saturdays throughout the summer. We are offering a variety of outdoor programs for small groups which include paddling instruction on Epping Way lake, exercise classes, and nature walks, all with qualified instructors. These activities are all free to the public thanks to financial support from a variety of grants. Hats off to Nick Wiggins, our Community Conservation Manager, who has been planning and coordinating these activities. Visit this link or our Activity Calendar for details and registration.

The Wolf River Greenway now has 11+ miles of trail open to the public, with an additional 3 miles under construction. To learn more about open segments of the Wolf River Greenway, please visit this link.  In addition to the Wolf River Greenway project and summer activities, our team continues to deliver on our mission by conserving land, educating our community, and introducing paddlers to the beautiful Wolf River thanks to our capable Volunteer River Guides.

Thanks to you all for your continued support!

Keith Cole
