On the Greenway: Construction Updates

The Wolf River Greenway project team continues to push forward on expanding and upgrading sections of the Greenway.

In east Memphis two sections are under construction, Phase 3A and Phase 14A. Phase 3A is a new trailhead and parking lot with additional picnic tables located on Humphreys Blvd just west of Kirby. This parking lot will help alleviate overcrowding in the existing parking lot on Humphreys near Baptist Hospital. Phase 14A is well under construction and promises to be an absolutely spectacular phase of the Wolf River Greenway with a 270-foot cable-stayed bridge over the Wolf River and an elevated ½- mile boardwalk through the Lucius Burch State Natural Area with a long-awaited connection to the Shelby Farms Greenline.

In north Memphis, Phase 10A is under construction along James Road and will provide additional access to the Wolf River Conservancy’s 140-acre Epping Way park. Phase 4 between N. McLean and Hollywood is also under construction and will provide access through the community of Hyde Park along the existing US Army Corps of Engineers levee. Phase 4 will connect to the recently completed phases of 5A and 5B along N. McLean.

In addition, several other phases are completing design and will be going to bid in late 2020 or early 2021. Work is also progressing on the new Wolf River Greenway Trailhead sign package, and signs are currently being fabricated. Installation of the new signs will occur in the fall of 2020.

As always, please be mindful of the ongoing construction and respect all no trespassing signs. For additional information, an interactive map, and construction update videos please visit the website at
