On the Greenway: Launching New Programs

While we're working hard to complete the Wolf River Greenway, we are also activating the open sections by offering volunteer opportunities and free community programming that can benefit all users and residents.

  • "Paddle the Greenway" took place from October 17-24, offering free paddling lessons to anyone who signed up.  The multi-day event was held at the picturesque 20-acre lake adjacent to the Wolf River Greenway at Epping Way.  Users were able to learn the basics of paddling a canoe or kayak, launching from our 60-foot floating dock and assisted by our volunteer river guides.  Paddlers both new and experienced enjoyed their time on the water along the Greenway, whether in the warm sunshine or the cold rain!  This is just the beginning.  We hope that community paddling experiences will become a regular feature of our programming in the future.
  • The Wolf River Conservancy is launching a new volunteer effort in November - the Wolf River Greenway Ambassador Program, which aims to place knowledgeable and friendly Ambassadors along the Wolf River Greenway to monitor trails, answer user questions, and gather public opinion on Wolf River Greenway initiatives. The volunteer Wolf River Greenway Ambassadors will wear branded reflective vests and traverse the many sections of the Greenway with informational brochures and knowledge of the surrounding areas. Beginning with eight Ambassadors, the goal is to grow the program in the coming years, adding more volunteers. The Greenway Ambassador program is a wonderful volunteer opportunity for those who want to help others and assist in growing and improving the Wolf River Greenway for all users.
