Remembering Jim Strickland

The Wolf River Conservancy would like to acknowledge the passing of a member of our River Guide Program, Jim Strickland.  Jim first joined the guides in 2015 and immediately became an active member of the group, participating in numerous membership paddles on the Wolf River, assisting during the Cooper Young Festival and Outdoors, Inc. Canoe and Kayak Race events and instructing his fellow guides with CPR and AED classes.  He brought to the organization river experiences as a water instructor for the Boy Scouts of America teaching swimming, canoeing, rowing and lifesaving skills to his fellow scouts while attaining the rank of Eagle. Near the rear of our paddle group was where Jim liked to be, allowing him to assist the membership as needed and ensure a safe paddling experience for all. Jim was a valuable asset to the program and his presence will be greatly missed.

Jim is survived by his wife of 14 years, Teresa Flowers Strickland; children, James A. Strickland, Kathryn "Katie" Strickland and Ashley Strickland; step children, Christin Moses (J.P.) and grandchildren, Jennifer and Juliana Moses and Mason Garcia.
