Remembering Wayne Roberts

  Wayne Roberts leading volunteers.

We are saddened to report that one of Wolf River Conservancy’s most devoted volunteers has passed away.  Wayne Roberts, a Navy veteran, husband, father, grandfather, avid community leader, and good friend, always brought energy and a worker’s mentality to the countless service projects he led and meetings he attended.  A recipient of Wolf River Conservancy’s “2015 Outreach Volunteer of the Year” award, Wayne always pushed for more advocacy and more service to improve the Raleigh community.

Wayne was such a reliable volunteer that he led many Wolf River Conservancy service projects at Kennedy Park, representing both the Conservancy and the Raleigh community very well.  Wayne was also passionate about educating the youth of Memphis and recently worked with WRC Education Director Cathy Justis and Raleigh Community Center Director Evelyn Young to provide paddling instruction and opportunties youth and families. Wayne loved Raleigh and no one was more invested in its future.  His dedication, commitment, and indefatigable spirit will be greatly missed.
