Thank You, Tree Planting Volunteers!

Our 11th Annual Tree Planting event on Mar. 19th was a great success thanks to 250+ volunteers and their hard work - in spite of the cold!  Besides 500 young Eastern Redbud trees, volunteers also planted two large pollinator habitats which included numerous native nectar plants and two kinds of milkweed for Monarch Butterflies.  For those who might be interested in creating their own butterfly gardens, here is the list of species planted:

Common Milkweed, Butterflyweed, Star Tickseed, White Wild Indigo, Blue Wild Indigo, Oxeye Sunflower, Showy Goldenrod, Gray Goldenrod, New England Aster, Smooth Aster, Joe Pye Weed, Eastern Blazing Star, Wild Bergamot, Foxglove Beardtongue, Grayhead Coneflower, Yellow Coneflower, Purple Coneflower, Yarrow.

A big thank you to our presenting sponsors, FedEx and International Paper, and our other sponsors: Brother International, Indian Community Fund for Greater Memphis, The Little Garden Club and the Memphis Garden club, for your support. We would also like to recognize our Tree Planting donors who sponsored the cost of a tree to help us plant close to 500 beautiful, Eastern Redbud trees.
