Thanks to Earth Day Volunteers at Dogwood Elementary!

Dogwood Elementary School has a new garden in the Tennessee-shaped bed in front of the school - thanks to some wonderful volunteers who refused to let the rainy weather stop them on April 22nd.  The volunteers removed weeds in preparation for new plants, and then planted a selection of Tennessee native perennial plants which will attract butterflies, bees, birds and other wildlife. The plants included coneflower, coral honeysuckle, smooth aster, blazing star, butterflyweed, and more, providing years of enjoyment and educational opportunities for Dogwood students. This project is supported by the FedEx Five Star Grant, and many thanks to Kristen Lamberson of Strawberry Plains Audubon Center for creating a master plan for the garden. And very special thanks to all the volunteers who came out to help on Earth Day!
