The 15th Annual Tree Planting Event: Our Best Ever!

Thanks to the efforts of nearly 400 volunteers, the 15th Annual Tree Planting on Sat., Feb. 22, was our best ever.  Together we potted and planted an astounding 5,200 tree seedlings of 10 different native tree species in a single morning at Shelby Farms Park: Short Leaf Pine, Black Oak, Cherrybark Oak, Yellow Poplar, Persimmon, Red Mulberry, Shellbark Hickory, Buttonbush, Shining Sumac, and PawPaw.

A big thank you to the presenting sponsor of the Tree Planting event, International Paper; our platinum sponsor Crawford-Howard Private Foundation; our silver sponsors, Memphis Garden Club and The Little Garden Club; and our bronze sponsor, REI Co-op.  Thank you to our Wolf River Restoration Series presenting sponsor Brother International.

We would also like to thank our Sponsor-A-Tree donors!  A complete list of tree donors can be found at  There is still time to sponsor a tree!  Your support helps ensure The Conservancy can continue to provide quality volunteer service projects.  To sponsor a tree as an honorarium, memorial, or for yourself, please visit:

Thank you to our volunteer photographers from the Memphis Camera Club: Carl Cherry and Tim Wheat.  Their pictures from the event can be found on our Facebook photo album.
