WRC Volunteer Appreciation Event on May 19th

It was a beautiful evening in a beautiful setting with some of our favorite people-- our volunteers! On May 19th, WRC showed its volunteers some love at the Memphis Botanic Garden. After some mingling and refreshments on the porch of the Guest House in My Big Backyard, Executive Director Keith Cole welcomed the group and expressed the WRC's appreciation for all the hard work our volunteers do and how much they truly help keep us running. Then, WRC Special Project Coordinator, Marie Branch, gave a presentation on our new Wolf River Greenway Ambassador Program. We are looking for a group of 5-10 volunteers (or more) to help be the eyes and ears on our rapidly growing Wolf River Greenway Trail. WRC will provide the basic training about the Wolf River and the Greenway and we encourage the Ambassadors to bring their skills and interests to the job, providing anything from bird identification to bicycle maintenance tips to make our Greenway users feel welcome and safe and keep them coming back. Several people signed up at the meeting, but there is still time to join this special group. Contact Marie Branch at or Emma Smith at for more information.
