Volunteer Spotlight: Beth Hoople

Beth Hoople is currently volunteering in the WRC office where she donates her professional skills in analysis and historical preservation to organize WRC's wealth of resources into a digitized repository which can be updated continuously.  Beth also generously assists with other staff and clerical needs. These are unglamorous, sometimes arduous, and often overlooked tasks, but they are very important, and we want everyone to know how much we appreciate Beth and her efforts on our behalf!! While most of WRC's volunteer opportunities involve river guiding, trash clean-ups, privet pulls and special events, there is certainly a place for those willing to take on crucial jobs in the office.

From family camping trips to Girl Scout summer camp, backpacking, canoeing, and hiking in the Swiss Alps, spending time outdoors has always been important to Beth. “Since taking up kayaking several years ago," she says. "I’ve found the Wolf River to be the most outstanding natural resource available in Memphis—and it’s something valuable that needs to be preserved. Not only does the WRC make enjoyable waterway excursions possible, it has accomplished a tremendous amount since its inception almost 30 years ago.” Thank you, Beth, for your hard work and for your dedication to helping WRC accomplish its mission!
