River Reflections: The Dale Sanders Film

"Live for the adventure, not the destination."  Dale Sanders

On March 20, we had the pleasure of hosting Dale Sanders and his many fans at the Malco Cinema Paradiso at a screening of his documentary titled The Man, The Myth, The Mississippi. The documentary showcased the challenges he faced, the people he met along the way, and the personal growth he experienced while paddling the entire length of the Mississippi at the remarkable age of 87. Guests were treated to a meet-and-greet session and were able to take photos with Dale and his travel companions from his journey, Matt Briggs, Dan Faust, and Matt Taylor.

Dale was one of the original paddle guides with the Wolf River Conservancy. He came up with the idea of expanding the paddle program to include free paddles on the first Saturday of every month. Initially, the program was informal and only included the Ghost section of the river. During this time, Dale worked hard to formalize the program and wrote our River Guide Manual.

Dale is a true inspiration to all of us. His documentary embodies his adventurous spirit and his philosophy of embracing life's journey with enthusiasm and curiosity. It reflects his passion for outdoor exploration and his belief in the importance of cherishing every moment of the experience, rather than solely focusing on reaching a specific goal or destination.
