Conservation: Partnering with TennGreen to Protect Wetlands

To celebrate American Wetlands Month, Wolf River Conservancy is proud to highlight our partnership with TennGreen Land Conservancy.  WRC and TennGreen have been allies for many years, but it wasn’t until recently that we partnered to acquire two tracts of wetlands in Fayette County, TN.  These two properties are very important to the Wolf River watershed as they are comprised of 95% wetlands that recharge the Memphis Sand Aquifer and protect scenic stretches of the Wolf River and Shaws Creek.  Combining forces allows both Conservancies to more efficiently protect lands.  Earlier in May, staff from WRC and TennGreen visited both sites for the annual inspections required by our national accreditation through the Land Trust Alliance.  In addition to the inspections, we hiked, paddled, admired the wildlife, and shared stories of conservation.  Our thanks to TennGreen for its partnership!  We hope very soon to find another land conservation project to protect even more wetlands.

During American Wetlands Month, Wolf River Conservancy and TennGreen partner to protect Fayette County wetlands vital to the Memphis Sand Aquifer and wildlife.
