Dale Sanders: The Man, the Myth, the Mississippi Film Event on March 20th
Join us for an exclusive screening of "The Man, the Myth, the Mississippi" at 6:30pm, March 20, 2024, at the Malco Paradiso Cinema Grill and IMAX. Witness the incredible journey of Dale "Greybeard" Sanders, an 87-year-old adventurer and friend of the Wolf River Conservancy, who decided to take on the entire length of the Mississippi River by canoe to reclaim the Guinness World Record for the oldest person to paddle the river.
Sanders has been an inspiration to many, with his dedication to the Wolf River Conservancy and his passion for paddling leading him to become a legend in the paddling community. Sanders started volunteering with the Wolf River Conservancy after retiring from the U.S. Navy in 2002. Dale made a significant impact on the WRC by initiating the idea of expanding the paddling program to include free paddles on the first Saturday of each month to all members of the Conservancy. Dale worked diligently to formalize the program and completed writing the River Guide Manual in 2010.
After the success of the Guide program, Dale became a full-time employee within the Conservancy as its Director of Outreach and continued to provide exceptional support to the Conservancy until his second retirement in the Spring of 2015 to pursue (and accomplish) his goals, including paddling the Mississippi River from its source in Lake Itasca, Minnesota, to the Gulf of Mexico south of New Orleans, Louisiana.
This exclusive screening of "The Man, the Myth, the Mississippi" will be a unique opportunity to witness Dale's incredible journey on the big screen in Memphis. Dale himself will be present during the screening and will answer questions during a short Q&A session. Reserve your ticket now to secure your seat for an unforgettable evening.
